Airliners operating on the Srinagar route have decided to add 10 new flights in their new schedule, submitted to the central aviation regulator. It will take the total number of flights scheduled to Srinagar to almost 60.

An Airports Authority of India (AAI) official said the new flights include several Delhi-Srinagar flights and flights from other cities of the country to Kashmir.

It may be mentioned that 38 to 44 flights were slotted in the winter schedule this year, which was effective till March 26 and the new summer schedule came into effect from April 1.

According to the information, 10 new flights will start for Srinagar before Shri Amarnath Yatra. Srinagar airport management can start these flights from June 26. These flights will be from other big cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore. With this exercise, there will be some reduction in the increased airfares for Srinagar.

108 to 112 flights are operating daily for Srinagar airport. In these, 15 to 17 thousand passengers are traveling. All flights coming to Srinagar are operating at full capacity. The maximum number of seats booked in a flight leads to an increase in the fare under flexi fare. The fares for various airlines from Delhi to Srinagar have gone up to Rs 4400 to 5500. Due to the tourist season, a large number of tourists are reaching the valley by air.
