The facility for the passengers who booked their tickets ONLINE to change the starting (boarding station) was introduced 3 years ago! Now, this facility has been extended to the tickets procured for the Railway Stations as well from 14th June!

As such, Indian Railways have come forward to extend this facility to the passengers who booked their Express Train Tickets at the Railway Stations!

Until recently, the passengers who booked their Express train tickets online had the facility to change their boarding point until 4 hours before the train departure (before the reservation charts are prepared and pasted), by informing the same IRCTC Website or calling the number 139! This facility is available to passengers who booked through Tatkal as well.

This facility has been created for train passengers who are constrained and unable to reach the boarding station due to unavoidable circumstances!

Henceforth, even those passengers who booked their tickets at the Railway station can avail of the facility to change the boarding point 4 hours before the scheduled train departure.

  • They can visit the website: www.irctc.co.in and press the button ‘more’ on the main menu.

  • Then, select the newly introduced option ‘counter ticket boarding point change’.

  • Register the cell number given while booking the ticket and register the OTP (One-time-password) given, the choice would be given to change the boarding point.

  • As such, the reservation allotted for this particular passenger will not be given to any other person!
