Description: The Thiruvananthapuram city police have enforced restrictions for vehicular traffic from Althara to Thycaud via Vazhuthacaud from 8pm on Friday until Monday morning. These measures are being taken to facilitate construction work on the stretch under the Smart City project. The affected areas include the Vazhuthacaud-Women's College Junction Road and the Women's College Junction, where vehicular traffic will be prohibited.

The university has announced that counselling for PG admissions will start from June 10. Description: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts thunderstorms and rainfall for the next couple of days along the Char Dham yatra route, a sacred pilgrimage in the Hindu religion. The pilgrimage commenced on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, with the opening of the Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri temples. The doors of these holy shrines were unlocked for devotees after a period of winter closure, marking the start of the pilgrimage season

Description: In response to the soaring temperatures in Una, which reached a maximum of 39.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday, the district administration has taken steps to ensure the safety and well-being of students. As per an official notification issued by District Magistrate Jatin Lal, school timings have been adjusted starting from May 13. The order, which applies to all government and private schools in Una, stipulates that educational institutions will now operate from 8 am to 1 pm.

Description: A unique science summer camp - ‘Discovery 2024’, will be organised by Vistar Zindagi in Dharwad from May 11 at the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development of Karnataka (CEDOK) in the Belur Industrial area. This will be the second such camp this summer. Description: In response to the drought, govt has established seven fodder banks across Belagavi district to provide fodder to cattle owners at a discounted rate. The animal husbandry department has opened three fodder banks in Athani taluk, two in Raibag, and one each in Gokak and Chikkodi. At these fodder banks, farmers can purchase chopped fodder at Rs 2 per kg.

Description: The Gadag Junction, a historic station in operation for 142 years, faces a potential downgrade as South Western Railway (SWR) allegedly plans to reroute three pairs of Hubballi-Vijayapura trains through Gadag Bypass station starting June 1. Officials have decided to shift trains-06919/20 and 07329/30 Hubballi-Vijayapura-Hubballi; and 07331/32 Hubballi-Solapur-Hubballi from June 1. Ganesh Singh Byali, president of Betgeri Railway Horata Samiti, told TOI that SWR constructed bypass station saying it is to facilitate freight and temporarily diverted trains.

Description: Assam Kickboxing Association (AKA) will host the National Kickboxing Federation Cup Championships in Guwahati, The competition will kick off at the Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium at Sarusajai Sports Complex from October 3. Addressing a media gathering the general secretary of AKA Biswajit Kakati said, “A series of inter-district, inter-school and inter-college competitions will be conducted in the State from July to select the Assam team for the forthcoming Federation Cup. The list of competition included: 10th All Assam State Level Inter-School Kickboxing Championship, 6th All Assam State Level Inter-District Kickboxing Championship, 5th All Assam State Level Inter-College Kickboxing Championship and 2nd All Assam State Level Inter-University Kickboxing Championship.

Description: Jaipur Municipal Corporation - Greater (JMC-G) will conduct a threeday campaign starting May 15 against single-use plastic in the city. Seven teams have been formed for the campaign, and the revenue department has been entrusted with it. The campaign will focus on reusing plastic items and converting them into refusederived fuel, said officials.

Description: Rain lashed Garhwal on Friday including in Rudraprayag and Yamunotri. This came on a day when the annual Char Dham yatra began with the opening of the Kedarnath, Yamunotri and Gangotri shrines. The weather department said rain and thunderstorm activity is likely to continue till May 13. Bikram Singh, director of the met centre said Badrinath and other parts of Chamoli district are also likely to experience thunderstorms.

Description: An alert has been sounded in coastal areas of Kerala and southern Tamil due to the ”kallakkadal’ phenomenon, which causes a sudden swell of the seas, triggering rough waves in the affected oceans, threatening life and property of coastal residents and fishermen as well as any vessels which traverse the turbulent waters. As per an alert issued by the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), coastal areas of Kerala and southern Tamil Nadu are likely to witness rough seas due to the ‘kallakkadal’ phenomenon from 2.30 AM on Saturday to 11.30 PM on Sunday.

Description: Commuters traveling between Chennai Beach and Chengalpattu via suburban trains. Maintenance work at Chengalpattu station will lead to temporary schedule adjustments on Sunday, May 12th. From 11:10 am to 12:20 pm, trains will make an unscheduled stop at Singaperumal Temple. Consequently, the 9:25 am and 10 am trains departing from Chennai Beach to Chengalpattu will halt at Singaperumal Temple. Similarly, the 11:20 am and 12 pm trains from Chengalpattu towards the coast will start their journey from Singaperumal Temple instead of Chengalpattu. Passengers on the weekly express train (No. 22869/22870) between Visakhapatnam and Chennai Central will also enjoy added convenience. An extra sleeper coach will be temporarily added to the train from May 13th to June 11th to accommodate the increased passenger traffic during this period.
