Deadline for microchipping pet dogs extended to 14th December in Chennai
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has extended the deadline for pet owners to microchip their dogs and obtain ownership rights to December 14, 2025, due to rain.
Registration and Licensing Status: So far, 91,711 pet animals have been registered, and 45,916 have been licensed.
Requirements for Ownership: To obtain ownership rights, pet owners must complete the following steps:
- Microchipping: Get your dog microchipped at one of the six GCC pet clinics or a registered private vet.
- Anti-Rabies Vaccination: Administer an anti-rabies vaccine to your dog.
- Registration: Register your pet on the GCC pet registration portal, providing required documents, including a clear photo of your pet, vaccination certificate, and proof of residence.
