The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has waived the charges for Aadhaar biometric updates for children aged 5 to 17 years, benefiting approximately 6 crore children across the country. 

This decision is effective from October 1, 2025, and will remain in force for one year.

Age Group: Children between 5 to 17 years old are eligible for free biometric updates.
Mandatory Updates: Two mandatory biometric updates are required for children:
    - MBU-1 (Mandatory Biometric Update 1): At age 5-7 years
    - MBU-2 (Mandatory Biometric Update 2): At age 15-17 years
Previous Fee: ₹125 per update, which is now waived.
