Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the Thayumanavar Scheme in Thandaiyarpet, Chennai, aiming to deliver ration items like rice and sugar directly to elderly and differently-abled family card holders' homes. 

Key Highlights of the Thayumanavar Scheme - 


  • Beneficiaries: 21.70 lakh beneficiaries from 16.73 lakh family cards across Tamil Nadu.

  • Target Groups: 20.42 lakh senior citizens above 70 years and 1.27 lakh differently-abled persons.

  • Delivery Mechanism: Ration items delivered through 34,809 fair price shops using covered vans with electronic weighing scales and fingerprint scanners for secure delivery.

  • Delivery Schedule: Deliveries happen on the second Saturday and Sunday of every month.
