Thayumanavar Scheme launches to deliver ration to Doorsteps in Chennai
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the Thayumanavar Scheme in Thandaiyarpet, Chennai, aiming to deliver ration items like rice and sugar directly to elderly and differently-abled family card holders' homes.
Key Highlights of the Thayumanavar Scheme -
- Beneficiaries: 21.70 lakh beneficiaries from 16.73 lakh family cards across Tamil Nadu.
- Target Groups: 20.42 lakh senior citizens above 70 years and 1.27 lakh differently-abled persons.
- Delivery Mechanism: Ration items delivered through 34,809 fair price shops using covered vans with electronic weighing scales and fingerprint scanners for secure delivery.
- Delivery Schedule: Deliveries happen on the second Saturday and Sunday of every month.
